Exploring the Space–Nuclear Security Nexus: A New SWF Initiative
As advancements in space technology accelerate, so too do developments in the field of nuclear armament. Ensuring global nuclear security remains one of the most critical responsibilities for international leaders. Yet, as these two domains become increasingly intertwined, it is vital for experts in nuclear security to deepen their understanding of the evolving space environment.
The Secure World Foundation (SWF) is taking a proactive step to bridge this gap. In partnership with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP), SWF has launched a new two-year initiative focused on the growing intersection of space and nuclear security. This effort aims to strengthen cross-sector dialogue, foster mutual understanding, and enhance strategic stability in an era where space and nuclear issues are more interconnected than ever before.
Victoria Samson, SWF’s Chief Director of Space Security and Stability, underscores the importance of this collaboration on The Space Hour: As the two intertwine, it may be time for nuclear security experts to get a lesson on space.
