Secure World Foundation Announces Scholarships for the 6th Summit for Space Sustainability.

Secure World Foundation is excited to partner with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and the UK Space Agency (UKSA) to offer scholarships for young professionals and students to attend the 6th Summit for Space Sustainability. This hybrid event will be held on July 11-12, 2024, at The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Tokyo, Japan, and virtually through our event app, Whova.

About the Summit for Space Sustainability

The 6th Summit for Space Sustainability is a high-level, multi-day policy forum designed to highlight opportunities and challenges for developing solutions for space sustainability. This year, it is co-hosted by the Secure World Foundation and Cabinet Office, Space Policy Secretariat, Government of Japan.

Join hundreds of global experts and stakeholders from industry, governments, and civil society to participate in keynotes, interactive sessions, panels, and networking.

Scholarship Details

This year, this scholarship program will offer eight scholarships to deserving candidates. These include four scholarships each for UK students or young professionals (citizens and residents) and international students or young professionals, with a preference for applicants from Asian and Commonwealth countries.

Scholarship Includes:

  • Round trip economy airfare to Tokyo, Japan.
  • Accommodation during the event.
  • Visa cost reimbursement (if applicable).
  • Complimentary conference ticket.

Eligibility and Application Process

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 as of July 12, 2024, and must be registered members of SGAC. The application requires a 1-minute video submission in English, focusing on one of the conference's key themes:

  • Active debris removal progress and challenges
  • Space situational awareness initiatives
  • Commercial space industry's role in space sustainability
  • The interaction of civil, security, and commercial space
  • Space sustainability in the exploration context

How to Apply

Interested candidates should prepare their video submissions and complete the Scholarship Submission Form. The deadline for submissions is May 12, 2024, at 23:59 GMT.
